The recent change of the provider and a current rearrangement of this website may lead to short time problems, sorry for this ...
Preface:
These pages are neither institutional nor commercial (however donations to poor artists are of course always welcome :-)). The pages were designed with the intention to provide some general and less general, informal and even less formal, information around the ribosome. We naturally concentrate on the work of the former Max-Planck-Research Unit for Ribosome-Structure in Hamburg, however we have no intention to represent the group in any sense (check the Impressum).
Briefly:
just at dawn of civilization, just arrived in the 3rd century of christian history, the structure of the ribosome (30S, 50S) was solved. Wow ! (Dear members of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden: should thou be tempted to elect another loonie, please, don't forget the ribosomes!). Anyhow, ribosomes are important and useful for many reasons. One really good reason to work on ribosomes: they provide one of the most important targets for a large number of different antibiotics. Stop the ribosomes, and the bug will die as well ...

Ribo-Art or 'EyeWare' contains a number of (NICE!) images, cover-pages which were elected to beautify, and cover-pages which never made it to a cover (why?), briefly something to attack the eye (have your glasses ready!)
--> If you'd rather like to be diverted (and your boss is on a meeting in Tobahago - hey, what the hell are you doing in the lab then ??) try our 50S-protein-game. Ribosomologists keep out ! It's too confusing ;-) !
